One of Murphy's earliest designs remains a popular, distinctive choice. Pilots have raved about the RENEGADE for decades.
The RENEGADE structure is a blend of old and new technology employing conventional strut and wire braced biplane with fabric covering and an all-metal internal construction.
The RENEGADE is also a bargain at less than $20,000 for a complete Quick Build kit (though prices change so check with the factory). As the Renegade can even fly well with the Rotax 503, this is clearly one of the best values in light aviation -- paired with years of successful field operation.|
Now... Welcome the all-new RADICAL
All Murphy high wing monoplanes use all-aluminum construction and this method was again chosen for the high-powered RADICAL (up to 220 horsepower!). Why? Well, aluminum is easy to assemble, easy to inspect, easy to repair, has no welds to break, is impervious to UV, and is lighter weight. Because Murphy Aircraft invested in modern CNC equipment their designs reduce manufacturing time for us -- resulting in lower prices. Murphy's advanced matched-hole kits also result in less build time for customers.
The RADICAL is a roomy two seat side-by-side design. Even the largest pilots will find they have plenty of head, leg and shoulder room. Large upward-swinging doors make it easy even for less flexible pilots to enter.
The RADICAL was designed and built to be a rugged STOL bush aircraft incorporating the best ideas and design practices of all the Murphy aircraft. The RADICAL concepts, used on several Murphy models, came from a collaboration of Darryl Murphy and Dick Hiscocks, lead aeronautical design engineer of the renown Dehaviland Beaver and Twin Otter.
The RADICAL has a cavernous space behind the seats available for load carrying and the space is large enough that two can sleep comfortably on the double floor.

Video review: Murphy Aircraft — Radical (07/16)
You know the name Murphy Aircraft, from models such as their biplane Renegade or their all-metal Rebel.
In a show as vast at EAA’s AirVenture Oshkosh, it is presumptuous to attempt covering everything of interest.
