Special Light-Sport Aircraft, or SLSA, are 100% factory built
light aircraft that may be used commercially for instruction and rental.
These aircraft are certified using industry consensus standards created
with guidance from ASTM International and approved by FAA.
Jump to the beginning to of our up-to-date SLSA List.
Since the first SLSA approvals in April 2005, the LSA industry has gained FAA approval for 125 aircraft models! ByDanJohnson.com is proud to list all of these models in the order in which they were approved for a LSA airworthiness certificate.
How the SLSA List works... and how you can help
If you know of an approved aircraft not on this list, click here. One entry, the Champ 7EC, elected Part 23 production and is therefore not listed on our SLSA List.
Keep up with all these new approvals returning to this page frequently. The newest certified SLSA
appear at the top (default view). Click the No. header to see which aircraft received certification first.
Sort the list to find what you want. Reorder the list by clicking
on the column header for Certification Order number (No.), Airplane Model, Manufacturer,
or Importer. Click again to reverse the order. The
graphic
means an ascending sort and
means a descending sort.
NOW for many who were not sure...
We added the "Type" column to show the type of aircraft each SLSA. Hover over each two-letter abbreviation to see its full name description. Note that you can sort this column to group like types.
NOTE: "(U.S. Built)" after an importer's name signifies that the primary fabrication is done in another country -- or the design was created in that country -- but the U.S. builder buys components from the designing company and assembles the aircraft in the USA.
Once you've found airplanes of interest, you can click to see
what content is right here on ByDanJohnson.com or you can click to the
manufacturer's website, or its U.S. importer.
